I want to add emergency flasher function to my GL500I. Has anyone done this. Looking for suggestions.

Easiest would be add a sperate circuit and lights with it's own flasher unit. Or run it off the park position . To the wiring Diaghram Robin!

To get your present signals to function as four way flashers you need to connect the left and right circuits together using either a mechanical switch or a relay. At the same time as joining the two sides together the switch would need to supply power to the flasher unit. You would need a double pole double throw switch. Comments from the more electrically astute members please.

I helped a friend add 4 ways to his bike in the '70s. His bike didn't have marker lights in the front signals so we just added a switch between the left and right signal wires and when he wanted all 4 to flash he flipped the switch and set the signal switch to either left or right and they all flashed.

It would be more complicated on one of these bikes because you would want to turn the marker lights off (2 reasons: more noticeable and less power used).
The more I think about it the better Gerrard's idea sounds. You can get small LED signals on eBay fairly cheaply that could be mounted where they are inconspicuous when not lit and wire all 4 to a suitable flasher.
The problem with running them from the Park position with the original setup would be that the tail light would be lit too AND they would be on whenever the key is On too. It is probably possible to wire things so that the tail light is only on when the key is On and the 4 ways are turned on when the key is in Park but you'll have to figure that one out for yourself.

I agree that four LED lights, flasher, switch, fuse, direct connect hot to battery so no key is needed. Just put the switch in a safe place where it can not be hit. Like under a side cover that is easy to remove to access it.

My proposed circuit was based on the assumption that power would come from an always on source and that the four way flashers would be used when the key was in the off position. A circuit which disabled the front running lights wouldn't be that much more difficult to implement.

If you are only going to have them flash when the key is off, disabling the markers wouldn't be an issue.
The problem with your circuit is that the flasher's + terminal is connected to the black wire so when you turn the switch on everything else would be live too. This could be overcome by either making the switch DPDT so it could disconnect the flasher from the black wire or add a diode to between the black wire and the flasher to block current from flowing into the black.

I just like the operational elegance of having them come on when the key is in Park instead of adding another switch.

That is true. He has something to work with.

Lots of room on an interstate fairing for a switch. A switch which lights when on would help and with the circuit I am suggesting both turn signal indicator lamps on the dash would flash.

That would work nicely. (y)

The main reason I'm interested in doing this is because I ride with the Patriot Guard. We (as a group) do our escorts with hazard flashers on. I want my finished GL to have that capability.
