Hello,

First post here, but I've been reading these forums since I got my GL500 about 9 months ago.

Anyway, the collector box on my bike has seen better days and I came across a supposedly direct replacement (https://www.davidsilverspares.com/GL500-DC-SILVERWING/part_192300/).

I've seen a few posts here regarding CX/GL H box replacement options, but I haven't found anything detailing what actually goes into replacing these things. So, if anybody has any experience with something like this, here are some of my questions:

  1. Will this actually fit my bike? I've seen differing opinions here.
  2. Is it a matter of just unbolting the old one and bolting the new one? Or are there seals/gaskets and things I need to replace?
  3. And finally, on that note, how difficult will it be to actually remove this thing?

Any help/knowledge is appreciated.

Thanks!

Difficult ? Depends on the rust. No seals. They just slide together. Clamped.
Not sure about the rest.

actually there is a seal at each pipe in or out of the H-box, total of 4, plus the 2 crush washers if the pipes are removed from the engine for easier servicing, totalling approx $30 worth. DSS also lists these parts.
