Clutch Lever Replacement

Before I cut these off (photo #1), these are just some sorta clamp for mirrors, right?

Got the nut off, can't get the thing apart. Bashed the threaded end with a hammer, doesn't budge, put a screwdriver in the hole on the left and turned but doesn't thread outwards, just turns. Off-chance these are for something, I wanted to double check, otherwise, apart from removing everything on the handle bars and sliding them off (one on each side) I'm thinking it's cutting time.

Bought a new MC and clutch lever, they have the threaded holes for mirrors... though not entirely sure how to replace the clutch lever. It's not a separate piece like the MC, it popped off, new one popped on, banjo bolt seems to fit so just need to re-order the brake line and done (photo #2). The clutch lever though, looks like it's a part of the assembly for the horn and such. The new lever (at this link) has the plugs on the back, same clamp as the MC has. Swapped the MC out nice and easy, went to the clutch lever and figured best to ask before I dismantle it. Looking in the manual I'm not finding any diagrams for it... do the two halves come apart and the lever is inside? or is it all integrated?

Once the nut is off the bolt should slide straight through correct? Or do those two metal cone shape bits holding it in? I'd rather not destroy them in case someone needs them.

Use some penetrating oil, such as PB Blaster, and possibly heat. Try turning the "bolt" by putting a suitable tool through the hole where the windshield would mount. If you try to hammer it out make sure to have the nut at the end of the "bolt" so that the hammer contacts both the nut and "bolt".

Sprayed with Liquid Wrench, stuck a screw driver in the hole and was able to wrench the nut off. If I use the screwdriver in the hole I can turn that section and one of the cone metal parts in the centre turns as well, the other remains stationary. That's where I started to wonder if it was built to pull out all the way or simply loosen to a point and that's all. I hammered the end of the bolt, I'll try with the nut on it tomorrow. Failing that, it's cuttin' time. :D

I think that the cone metal parts should not turn with the "bolt".

Been raining the past couple days, so no chance yet to tackle the clutch lever...hoping to this week. These windshield holders will be cut off, since i dont see getting a windshield anytime soon.
