WTB: Rider Backrest for GL650I or GL500I

900 Views 11 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Randall-in-Mpls
Does anyone know if either Honda or an aftermarket company like Markland made a rider backrest for the GL650I or GL500I back in the day?

Would like to try and find and buy one if there were any made back then.

Thanks.

This is on my GL650I. The bike is in pieces and I think the the seat is in the shed but the picture is titled Markland Seat so it's fair to assume that's what it is. If it's not I'll let you know.

So does the OP only want "period correct"??....
If willing to consider other options there's quality parts out there.....

I restore vintage Hondas to original for a hobby, so I'd prefer period correct, either Honda OEM or specific-for-the-bike aftermarket like Markland.
If wingman isn’t interested in that backrest…let me know!

Hey RVP3, did you ever find out about that backrest?

Does the backrest mount to the aftermarket Markland seat somehow, or will it mount to a GL650I with a stock seat?

Let me know please. Thanks.

Hey Bob, Didn't catch this post and responded to your PM. Basically the backrest is independent of the seat:

RVP3... check your PMs
So, two SCAMMERS have tried to sell me a backrest in the past few days via PM!

emaverick711- He's been on the board for two weeks with one post and no other activity. Wanted to do all business via cellphone texts and questionable payment methods. His cell phone is 262-328-6686.

floriesjanineparker - Was on the board a whole 47 minutes with no other activity! Same wording of his PM, no other activity, business by cellphone and questionable payment methods.

I've reported them both!

I'm tempted to go trolling for phish, again. I never did find that final drive sprocket.
