Yeah that sucks. I was going to ride today but I was at work and could here the rain beating down and then I got home to learn that a tornado touched down in several places in southern wisconsin. The end of the week we're suppose to get a dusting of snow.

Well why do we live here?

This morning it is -34C with a windchill of -43C. And to think our Canadian Football League championship game is to be

played here(Edmonton) in 5 days. Nuts.

When my grandfather came here 80 years ago from Europe, it must have been summer.

I agree with you on the title to this thread. I like the snow but wish there was a way to keep riding all year. (Other than getting a sidecar). I was thinking of just adding stabil to the tank and running it every week this year, but now I'm thinking I'm just going to put it into hibernation and let it sleep until march.

If you can get just one good day a month in the Dark times and go for a long enough ride to open the thermostat you will be doing yourself and the bike a favour Kingston. It will keep the fluids turning, get some current through the connections and help prevent Clutch and brakes from partially seizing, corroding.

I had thought about that, but I'm a bit worried about the salt eating away at the metal bits of the bike. Once we get our first snow the roads stay pretty dirty and covered with road salt until spring.

You could move down here. Was in the 60's all day. Rain today or I would have ridden to work again.

I've started asking myself that question again.

I've been scraping my windshield the last three days, and I'll have to continue until mid-March.
Everything else I can handle.

I have a coffee mug that says "Winter Sucks," with a fairly strong, expressive, and not polite for mixed company word in between.
Makes me wonder why I live in Maine instead of somewhere warm that would let me ride year round (or, on more questionable days, drive my Miata top down at least part of the way)...

I usually ride all winter here in NC. It doesn't really get lower than 50 in January very often. With the impending move to WV I will have to garage it for several months of the year. Not looking forward to that bit.

You need to get winter play toys!
No place to store or use the winter play toys, except maybe the orange shotgun.

Well in fact this year is my 1st as an owner of snowmobiles. Yes bought 2. 1st one is a 77 Arctic Cat Cheetah 5000

(500cc)1400 miles, came with a single trailer and a cutter ( fiberglass 2 seater sleigh on skis) $800. 2nd I just got

81 Ski-Doo Blizzard 5500 (503cc) 2100 miles and $600. Beauty of these machines is they are like our old bikes, you

can actually work on them, parts are available and there are a number of decent forums like this one, with people very

willing to help guide you along. I will say though, sleds are, at least at this moment in time for me, somewhat more

complicated, with many more parts. I am enjoying the motorcycle offseason more this way.
