What kind of exhaust will go?

Hey I have a 1981 honda CX500 and there was straight pipes on there before and i want to change them. What will fit other then the stock exhaust? Any input would be great I am new at this!

The factory intake and exhaust are highly tuned on this bike, even so much that putting in a K&N airfilter element is enough to upset the balance such that you have to rejet leaner and changing the pipes ........

That's what you're looking at with the stock system. A lot of folks have swapped the two mufflers for Harley Sportster or Dyna mufflers, because they will connect to the H-Box.

I would not mind having factory stock ones but i cant find a good one for a good price any ideas?
Ive got stock Sportster pipes if you go that route ($25 plus shipping) but some claim lower gas mileage. I can't verify either way. I do know they seem to slip right on my MAC system and have been told the same for stock H box.
I think the ones for the 885 are the closest in size and just a tiny bit louder.

1st thing to do is find a collector box for your model.



Easy to find over here but I don't know the US suppliers.It's real pity that Motad don't have a US supplier as their 2 into 1 systems,although seemingly expensive,are superb and no re-jetting required,
