I just (foolishly?) bought a CX400 C , unseen, photos only, $1500 NZD, rego still on hold, owner says 3 years sitting in a dry garage, previous previous owner said bad stator, but they never followed through and just stored it.
6 hour round trp to Whanganui to pick it up.
first visual, no screw driver: -No battery, flat tyres, rusted out choke cable, front brakes non function, bent clutch lever, missing some cover bolts
Found it was last registered in 2009.
Its gunna need a bit more than a new stator i reckon.
But hey, all good, at least iCX only got 2 cylinders instead of my last 82 Suzuki gs650 with those f-n inline 4 airbox grazzed knuckle sunnofabitch. I traded that up for a 2004 GS1200ss which i dont f with. just ride it. but maybe i miss the infected oily knuckles?
first question, if I may on the intro forum ?
Checked the oil.. light grey and viscous . I aint seen that before.
Lets say that its been sitting 3 to 10 years. Is that JUST oil? or have I maybe got a more sinister coolant leak issue? some broken seal or something..
And whats the best way of cleaning it out? disassmble? some magic chemical?
-CX500 manual on order, trying to track down a stator. I have used RM stator years ago, pre COvid, when the ships ran on time.
I see theres some Chinese ones..
