Hello all-
Hoping to get some advice on a constant nuisance on my build. I have now replaced the mechanical seal 3 times on my 81 CX500C. First time was the shep method, then the other 2 were the whole seal. After all 3 attempts I still have water coming out of the weep hole once the bike warms up a little. The only thing that we possibly think could be the problem is the fact that the threading on the camshaft where the acorn nut screws on is a bit stripped out.

Any thoughts are welcome.

I'll have to get in there this weekend to check. Are these easily replaced if I misplaced it during rebuild/ just need to replace?

Yes, they're easy enough.

Remove the carbs and coolant pump cover. Undo and remove the impeller.

The copper washer will be under the impeller nut.

The thrust washer should be behind the impeller but sometimes hides in the middle of the impeller.
