Hello folks, I have my turbo in pieces while I wait for my rebuild kit. I noticed the wast gate valve was not smooth but pitted. I sanded it

to remove all the rust and pitting. Now its nice and flat and smooth. This brings me to ask...how tight a seal is this metal to metal valve?

It seems it is intetionally poor.

Rique, Of the four wastegates I have seen, they all appear to be just a flat-metal to flat-metal finish - not lapped or ground to a precision fit. Mind you, all four had at least 20,000 km on their respective motors, so that could change the seating quite a lot.
