They are old. I have the same yr and model. After checking compression, setting tappet clearances, replacing cam chain, fixing fan rub on shroud I still have sounds. I say do your maint. and check the few commonly discussed things mentioned and then enjoy your bike.
valve noise after warm up
I have adjusted the valves twice, I am sure I was at TDC on the cylinder I was adjusting. The valves were closed and the mark was aligned, and using the correct feeler gauge per the maintenance manual, but I still hear some slight clicking after I have been riding a while. Am I still doing something wrong, do I have another problem, or should I just ignore it? Bike runs great throughout the RPM range, just that the noise bothers me. Not real loud, I just don't like hearing it.
