I listed the rear fairing from my '78 CX500 for sale, and had someone contact me and ask if it would fit his '79 CX500 Custom. I know the rear fenders and lighting assemblies are quite a bit different on the Customs, but I am not sure if my rear fairing would fit on his bike or not. Can anyone give me some insight as to what my answer should be?

I don't think it will work. With modifications it could work but the rear on a std/dlx is wide and the rear on a custom is not as wide.

Thanks! I kinda had a hunch that was the case, but wanted to ask the experts. Personally, I think it would take away from the Custom styling even if it did fit, but I guess if he was willing to buy it he had already considered that.
