Here it is, Gene. This is mostly excerpted from email and updated.

The Amish rally is rapidly approaching and my travel plans are being finalized. JB in SC and I are planning to meet up and ride together for most of the trip northward.

I plan to camp out at TWO the prior weekend, August 14-15, to get in some riding in the north GA mountains. This would be a good weekend for an impromptu "local" get-together, especially for those folks in the southeast who do not plan to attend the Amish. Feel free to stop by and join in the fun.

After the weekend at TWO, I'm planning a leisurely ride up to the Amish over several days via the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Sunday night's destination is the Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground where several of us met in June. For those who missed it, this is a great place.

Monday night's destination is the Willville Motorcycle Camp at Meadows of Dan, VA, another great place.

Tuesday night's destination is someplace near the end of the BRP.

Wednesday will be an exploring day with the final stop TBD.

We will arrive at the Amish sometime Thursday.

Although the trip up there can be made in a day I intend to cut the throttle back and stretch the ride out. The return trip is unknown at this time.

Thanks DavidF, as I said I will be pounding the interstate in my truck in a desperate attempt to catch you guys for the final assault on the campground. Based on your (loose) schedule I guess I am going to find you somewhere in southern Pa., does that sound right? How about setting up a scheduled call from you to me on Wednesday between 12 & 12:30 eastern time. My cell is 615 293-4940. If there are any changes on my end I will let you know, there is a faint possibility I could leave on Tuesday.

At this time I have no idea where we will be Wednesday night. It all depends on where we decide to ride and where we end up.

I don't have a cell phone but I'm fairly certain Jerry will be carrying his. We'll try to make contact around noon.

Dave, could you bring that copper washer along in case we get to do that tech session? And anything else that you would use to install the mechanical seal and other seals. I'll have basic tools.

Since I'm along you can be sure Dave will be prepared for rain...

Gene, I will bring my cell phone. When DaveF figures we've gone far enough on Wed, I'll give you a buzz. Me, I'm following. My brain will be at idle as much as possible.

Jerry, there is a possibility I can leave on Tuesday, I will let you know. Unfortunately, my brain has been on idle since I retired!

DaveF, as lead dog (the one with the view) it is your responsibility to ferret out great photo ops. We have to have someone to blame for the boring pictures we put up on the board

Rich, not only did you make the coffee too strong, you drank too many cups!

Yes, I'll bring the copper washer and a few other things that may be needed.

For those reading along, we are tentatively planning a tech session one evening at the rally to replace the water pump mechanical seal, the rear camshaft oil seal, and a few other things on a 650 engine. It sounds like good clean dirty fun.

Rain? What's all this talk about rain?

The curse has officially been broken. We had great weather the weekend of the BRMC gathering in June. Jerry and I were both in attendance at the same place at the same time, too.

OTOH, I don't think I've ever ridden the BRP from one end to the other without hitting some rain someplace. It should be interesting.

Well Gene, since you asked (again), I wasn't gonna get into it, but you asked (again).

Actually, I picked her up hitch-hiking just outside Springfield, Vt. The four teats and no bra kinda caught my attention! I gave her a lift for a few miles and since it was kind of weird, I asked a passerby to snap that picture of us. Her name is Bossie,(not Daisy)no last name given. Chatting while we rode, she told me a story of a retired postman that used to live in that town, but moved south somewhere a few years ago. She said she still misses him a great deal, and one of her prized possessions is the milk crate he used to bring when he came calling. She didn't want to name him, as she believed he was married. You just never know what you're gonna find on the back roads of Vermont.

Well Rich, I'm glad you cleared that up! Bossie, huh wonder where I got Daisy, guess I was thinking of Abner Youkum and his bunch, you know he has a real purty daughter named Daisy! You say she was hitch-hiking south? Did she say she was heading for Lowgap, NC? Maybe you should give someone a call and warn him!

She'd never make it through the state of Virginia Those boys would have her tied up in a narrow stall in no time. She was a nice girl She'd never squeel on me...No, wait, that was my other girlfriend...You sick bastard, wait till I get my sights on you next week.

I hope to be joining you at the Amish. I just did a job interview yesterday and if they call I have to go to them ... if they don't call by Wednesday I'm on the road to the Amish.

I am sort of hoping they don't call ...

Phil!

Heads up, Jerry. The rain curse is back with fury.

I'm now sitting in the TWO lodge and it's coming down hard. Supposed to be more all weekend.

I think Rich may have jinxed us.

He may have! You know how jealous he is of southern weather! Hang on Dave, I will join you guys on Tuesday night (if all goes well) and my good karma will banish the rain. Besides I will be in the truck!

Gene

PS: I think I will be sleeping in the truck, makes things a lot simpler, besides the camper cabin at Watoga is $84!!

Now, now Phil, remember your blood pressure! Besides you should not blame others for certain habits.

Jerry and I are both at the BRMC now.

Friday's heavy rain at TWO quit after dinner and there have only been a few sprinkles since - not even enough to justify putting on a rainsuit. Looking great so far. Maybe the rain curse is in retreat after all.

Dave, that is good news! The weather gods must have heard that I am going to make this years Amish and they decided to hide!
