Hello, and thanks to everyone for this great forum.

A quick question for general answer: in searching for a CX500 as donor for my scrambler project, I am finding that about 50% of the bikes I find have no title.

Now each state is different I realize, but in general terms, how hard is it to register a bike (with the DMV) if you don't have a title?

I've built a project car in the past (from the ground up), and here in Florida getting a VIN for it and registering it as a "kitcar" wasn't all that difficult (Tennessee on the other hand was difficult).

But, I've also noticed that with the custom bike craze all around the USA, lots of builds are done from the ground up with no title at all (since until it's completed it's just parts put together).

What's your experience with this?

Thanks Murray.

Yea, the kitcar in Tennessee can be done, but it's a multi-step process that bureaucrats love to thwart.
Interesting that bikes are easier. Getting a new title for my wife's horse trailer in Tenn. was a piece of cake.
