I've been bored and decided to do some research on electric fan conversions. Decided to go with an 80degreeC N/O thermostat, but all the ones I find say that they operate on AC power.



Here is one that Shep recommended in another thread, but I've looked at so many threads tonight that I can't find it again.



Since he recommended it, I'm inclined to say it works. I assume it doesn't matter if its AC or DC since its controlled by temps and just passes voltage through?

Ignore any AC or DC information on any switch devices, as it is meaningless. There is no difference what so ever as all switches are nothing more than 2 pieces of wire that "join" to complete a circuit. The only important data is the "current rating" which WILL be listed diferently between AC and DC voltages. As long as the current rating is sufficent for what you need then you will have no problem.

I had the same question. It doesn't matter that it is rated for a crap ton of AC volts. 12 DCV will flow through it just fine. Think of it as being very over built

Mine has been working flawlessly. And my fan draws 6.66 amps.

Thanks for the replies guys. I went ahead and ordered it and all the other stuff I think I need. Now I just need to win a bid on a fan.
