I suppose if you really had a sweet ride, you could always get a LoJack but at almost $700, not sure I would. I will probably go for that disc lock though, for G-Loria.

Up here in the great white north there really isn't to much concern about my or my wife's bike being stolen. I have thought about using some type of anti-theft devise in the past. I came up with three things that I think will work up here.

1. A cable lock to place on one of the tires.

2. Two stickers on the gas tank. One says: NRA life member, the other says: SWAT Sniper.

I'm pretty sure that will work for me.

You probably don't know how to use it or someone broke your ignition. Turn the bars all the way to the left and wiggle the key over to lock. Beware though on my the damn thing doesn't like unlocking. It's just a peg that comes out of the ignition switch.

I park my bike right next to the guard shack at work and in a safe neighbor hood at home. There are better things to steal than my bike.

embarrased as I probably should have read the owners manual haha.

I leave the key in mine. Maybe I should change that habbit.

I do that by accident sometimes.

I walked out of the parts store today and noticed my headlight is on...

D'Oh! It was still there and fired right up so no harm not foul.

Felt dumb.

As a theft preventive I ride a very ugly and rusty old looking bike.

Once the CX is running (tomorrow maybe!!!!) I will have to get more serious.

A friend of mine leaves an empty revolver holster laying on the drivers seat of his car. Any bad guy would have to assume that the owner has the gun in his pocket and could just come back as the car was being stolen.

Yeah, I used my steering lock for the first time yesterday. It works great. I also picked up some nice Kryptonite cable locks so we can leave our jackets with the bikes, or lock the front wheel. They were on clearance at Wal-Mart for $5.00 each, so I figured we could give them a shot.

LOL That holster seat is just too cool lol. Also being in the great white north I dont worry too much about theft ... since its in the garage all the time when Im not on it, and when its not Im on it. May pick up a chain lock as this year I may be taking out on service calls as well as just plain fun riding.

Wonder if you can get some kind of "chip" that would track the whereabouts of the bike in the event of a theft? I think James Bond had one on his ride. With many parts of town on video security cams, park near one. Another passive method is to park in a place / manner that just makes it downright annoying and inconvenient to mess with the bike. My security? Make my "everyday" bike run like a bat outa hell and look like a loser. My "sweetheart" bike doesn't get parked anywhere I can't see her in my gun sights. That only works if you have two bikes and a carry permit.
I have Tiles on all of my sets of keys. Think I’ll hide one in each of my bikes too.
