I can't believe I didn't find this forum earlier!!

I just picked up a 79' CX500 Custom in decent shape with 28k for free here in Washington!

The engine runs great, carbs needed some good cleaning (just did that today), needed the rubber plugs in the carb replaced, and I am just putting it back together now!

The paint on the gas tank is all worn out, so I have decided to sand it down and re-paint it. I am thinking of gloss black, figured that would go well with all the chrome pieces on the bike. It was originally the prune kinda color. The master cylinder needed a rebuild (found a new master cylinder online not bike specific for 20 bucks shipped to my door, Nissin brand) and the caliper piston gasket needed to be replaced and the cylinder to be honed out a little bit.

All I need now is to find a Custom seat, the bike came with one for a Deluxe for some reason...

My other bike is a 2002 R1, but this bike is different and I enjoy it a lot!

Aaaand got it running!! Have to get it to idle, BUT it runs

Yes, I noticed the thing is addictive!

I have a lot of people walking by my house come up and ask me about my "CX", a few people offered to buy it (and I have said NO every time!) and everybody has a lot of good to say about them. Make me glad I am spending the time and effort to get this thing back in shape.

BTW, 6 cans of carb cleaner later and a whole ton of scrubbing, the carbs are clean!
