The MC industry is taking notice

The motorcycle aftermarket industry is starting to take notice of the popularity of the CX/GL motorcycles that we believe in so strongly. I was contacted a few days ago by a major parts distribution company about providing them with some OEM parts for the carbs for our bikes. Two days ago I sent them emulsion tubes, low jets, 650 accel. pumps, vacuum operated petcock and several more parts. They want to reproduce them and make them available with the exact needed dimensions that these bikes require. In my opinion this is a really big step forward in establishing the CX/GL in the respected pages of history. I was a little taken back that I was the one that they though of first, but it's an honor I had to smile about.

Hopefully in a few months we'll have some of the hard to come by parts available to us. It can only go UP from there.

Keep-em running guys! Their starting to notice!

a nice Cafe seat would be great! and maybe stock head pipes and slip ons?

wow this is great news, when i purchased this CX i was a little nervous due to the lack of aftermarket equipment available but so far im having a decent time locating parts.
That is great news! Thanks for being such a great ambassador Larry!!
Ramprat said it more correctly than I did.

Perhaps a front brake extra rotor set-up with MC and all the lines mounting hardware yada yada yada, like the interstate model has? THAT would be a big plus for these "under-braked" bikes, and make it possible for me to do "stoppies"......ROFL...Ya, like that's gunna happen..Lol

So is this company to remain nameless? And is it in the US?

Hey Don - maybe it was this guy. just kidding

Anyway, very cool news - thanks for your contributions to this Larry.
Wow! Reading this thread would have me believe Larry got his hands on a genie, or caught a lephrechan. Many of the items on this wish list would carry aftermarket prices that will stop your heart. Getting some carb parts with satisfactory quality control is going to be a challenge in itself, and if possible will be a coup to Larry's credit. In most cases, used parts will be your best source for the forseable future.
I agree Rich, some of what's being put on the wish list isn't going to be a major profit for some of these companies since some of the parts may not sell in a larger market than the CX/GL. I'm sure they'll entertain some of the ideas, but cost and return will be their deciding factor in the end.

But, I'll ask when I get the chance. It's tax day here and I'm working on all that first.
when you were a kid,for christmas you wrote to father christmas with a wish list[or want list, lol]

if we end up with a list of 12 items, and 4 turn up.so be it,its more than was available last month.

good work larry

Larry it's because you wrote the book on the carburetors.

You should be proud.

I've been reading up on mold making and composite layup, and side covers are the first thing I think I'd tackle.

Anyone know how many crank bearing shells are still in the parts system?

If you are serious about side covers, just contact a company like Meier or UFO that specialize in vacuum-formed plastics for dirtbikes/quads.....I know they can make anything, I am familiar with some custom orders on things on other sites.

spark plug caps can still be had from OEM for pretty reasonable.

plug wires, just contact a company like NOLOGY http://www.nology.com/hot.html

for coils, just finding something that fits would be plenty good enough.

Something that could stand to be made would be the Cam Tensioner Bolt that everyone seems to break.
