The MC industry is taking notice

The motorcycle aftermarket industry is starting to take notice of the popularity of the CX/GL motorcycles that we believe in so strongly. I was contacted a few days ago by a major parts distribution company about providing them with some OEM parts for the carbs for our bikes. Two days ago I sent them emulsion tubes, low jets, 650 accel. pumps, vacuum operated petcock and several more parts. They want to reproduce them and make them available with the exact needed dimensions that these bikes require. In my opinion this is a really big step forward in establishing the CX/GL in the respected pages of history. I was a little taken back that I was the one that they though of first, but it's an honor I had to smile about.

Hopefully in a few months we'll have some of the hard to come by parts available to us. It can only go UP from there.

Keep-em running guys! Their starting to notice!

K&L?

This is the kind of thing we've always hoped for by maintaining a club..!!!! And they came to you.... sweet.!!

What other parts would be in need of reproduction?

The one that jumps out is the curved cam chain tensioner especially for the 650's. I don't know the status on the availability of 500 blades, but if they call again, we should have a list ready for them.

I wonder if there would be a way to remanufacture replaceable intake manifold boots so that the old ones could be ground off the intake manifold and the new one could be vulcanized on.

Various rear suspension parts on the monoshock possibly.??

I'm sure there are others.

a brake MC would be nice I'd imagine... New Valves maybe?
Brake MC can usually be supplied by aftermarket unless one wishes to keep in stock.

Are the tappet screws a probem? I expect they can be filed down a couple times.

Most of the o-ring and gasket parts are already and continually made by aftermarket companies.

We pretty much have the CDI box covered.

I think that a spark plug cap and wires remade in good quality could be a reseller. They eventually become suspect and spares, being 30 yrs old are not the way to go.

Are bearings and rings still available??

OH, that little foam breather under the air filter breaks down over time. I used to replace it with a kitchen scratch pad cut to size.

SS brake caliper pistons are on ebay from time to time; but they are expensive. If they could be made and sold for $5 each, it would be a possible item.

Keyster does seem to focus on Carbs; but it would be an option to contact someone like K&L to see if they'd be willing to takle a few of these items. Or get them fabed up here.

The cam chain tensioner is a lazer cut peice of metal, with the right bends and the right material glued and fastened in the right way.

Still a step in the right direction.
