So, I need to know what the gap is on a GL500 between the fairing and the tank. In inches.

On a Hondaline fairing (interstate), the gap is around 5/8"(1/2"-3/4").

But your avatar shows a Vetter fairing so that may not help.

Thank you stich, I just bought another lot. I was refering to Heinz 57, my GL500I. My avatar is of Ol' Bessie, a CX500D combat touring bike. The PO on the GL removed the fairing to paint it the color of Heinz 57, hence the name. It has no clearence on one side and about an inch on the other. Just wondering if it can be centered or is the mount tweeked.

As far as I can see on my GL, there is no adjustment. I would say that your bracket is out of wack.

There are like "L" brackets for the rear of my vetter fairing, and depending on the front bracket, am thinking you could probably persuade it to see things your way.
