I believe he has the 4 gauge analog set on his bike. I had one of those till the flood. I think the only way to adjust it is to open it up and move the pointer. I don't remember there being any sort of adjustment on the back.

I have one of those on my 900 and it reads 5-7 degrees too warm. Shy of reindexing the needle, I know of now way to recalibrate. And don't screw with the line or temperature bulb much, they are gas filled and it can leak out if the line gets bent around a lot. Those things are so rare, I haven't had the nerve to try to break into it to move the hand.

How do you recalibrate it?

Sorry for the typo, it should say I know of no way to recalibrate them. If you could disassemble the gauge, you could pop the needle off and put it back on at a known and accurate temperature. If I had a junk gauge I might try to disassemble it, but I don't so I live with the descrepency.

If it's an electrically operated gauge a resistor in series &/or in parallel with it would change the reading. Since I don't know the specs of the gauge or the resistance of the stock sensor I couldn't begin to guess where to start.



Anyone have a simple circuit or some ohms readings on one of these setups? If so it might not be hard to figure out where to place a pot so you could put in a variable adjustment.
