Greetings all! As I begin plans for my new (to me) '81 CX500D, I'm interested in the Tarozzi fork brace offered by "Fast from the Past". Their website lists it (part #22-0023) as fitting "79-81 Custom" CX's. They weren't sure

if the brace would fit a DELUXE as well. I'm thinkin' it will....but I'm only 4 days into my life as a CX500 owner. Anyone have experience fitting the Tarozzi fork brace to a Deluxe?

Thanks!

If you call them they will email/fax you a sheet that shows how to measure the fork. The person I talked to said they probably have one that will fit. I haven't sent my measurements back yet, so I don't know, if they got one for Deluxe.

Just be aware of the fact that these braces will decrease the travel a bit.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I wonder about their info. They say it will fit a 79-81 Custom. That should probably be 79-80 Custom. They list the fork sizes as 33mm.

The 81 Custom has 35mm forks. I am not certain what size forks are on the 81 Deluxe,,I think they have 33mm but I am not positive of that. Hopefully an 81 Deluxe owner will chip in with that info. If they do have 33mm diameter forks, it should fit.

The 81 deluxe forks should be the same as the 81-82 custom forks.

I'm not sure if there's a difference between the newer and later size but the styles are different.

I wouldn't be surprised if they all take the same brace but I don't know why the 78 would have a different brace part number.

This parts fiche shows the early style fork,,the seal for it is a 33mm. Part #26

It also shows the newer fork style with the leading axle,,but it does not show the part numbers, it does list it as being for the 81 Custom and Deluxe.

The 81 Custom shows the seal as being 35mm. part #28

I think what all that means is if you have the old style axle(on the bottom of the fork), the 33 mm brace will probably fit.

If you have the newer leading axle style fork, it may not fit.

Just because the fork tube diameters are different does not mean for certain that the brace won't fit the lower part of the fork,,but I think it would be a good idea to ask them if they think it will work.
