Rode from the Bay Area up to Lake Tahoe over the weekend, on the 1978 CX. My cousin rode her Triumph Thruxton (with clip-ons!), a more powerful bike but I more or less kept up.
The old bike performed pretty flawlessly.. just some pop-popping as we descended from Carson Pass at 8,700 feet or whatever it is.. not unexpected at that altitude. We were stopped at a lake due to some construction, right as my odometer rolled over to 10K! Not a bad spot to be stuck for a few minutes.
Gas prices are a nightmare but not so bad when you're only buying four gallons at a time. The ride home was so hot and miserable, I thought I was going to pass out.. but the CX just kept on rolling! All photos by my cousin...
