Ok thanks a lot!
I'm quite hesitant about buying a new stator due to the cost, do you think it's worth trying to fix the wiring harness if any wires have been split or should I just bite the bullet and get the new stator?

If the stator is black or close to it I would just replace it. { they start out a reddish/brownish toffee colour} If considering keeping it run through this. Hell, run through it anyway. there's components there you'll be keeping regardless and if iffy are best replaced while you have the motor open.

F*ck it, I've just ordered one. Triple bypasses are expensive work.
I've been told to change the camshaft oil seals, they sell a front and rear seal. Are both important to replace?

You won't need to replace the front seal as part of this job but if you choose to it is 17 x 28 x 6 or 7 (either thickness will work} and the rear that you WILL want to change is 18 x 28 x 6 or 7. You can buy these sizes at a bearing shop and save a few pound.

I've ordered one from David Silver Spares along with the Stator.

My list of parts are now:

Gaskets
Clutch plate kit
Cam chain guide
Cam chain
Mechanical water pump seal
Stator
Rear camshaft oil seal

Hopefully this list won't grow any more :serious:
