When to ride my 1981 GL500 this afternoon and got nothing when I pushed the starter bottom? Battery is good, gas is on, and full.

Sounds like an electrical problem. Is your starter button actually making a connection? Have you checked your ground?
Tell us a little more. Did your headlight come on? Did the bike "click" when the starter was pushed? Have you done anything recently to the bike? Have you tried to jump the two large terminals of the solenoid with a screwdriver? Have you made sure the bike is in neutral? Try pulling the clutch when you hit the button too.
Can you jump start by pushing and popping into gear if the starter/solenoid are bad?

Yes the lights come on, but there is no click when I push the starter button, but the light dims, when I press the button. Bike is in neutral an I tried pulling the clutch, but nothing.

Pete, can you put your location and your bikes details into your signature line.

Blue Fox asked......Have you tried to jump the two large terminals of the solenoid with a screwdriver?

did you try this, and if so,what was the result.

it is a 10 second test.use a beefy screwdiver, and dont worry about a few sparks, but, you must touch it firmly
