I think I already know the sad answer to this one, but I had to ask.... ;)
Is there an easy way to put spoked wheels on my CX, without having to litererally "re-invent the wheel"?
As the front forks can easily be changed out, I'm guessing the choking point is the CX's rear shaft drive.
I'd love spoked wheels, however if it involves a lot of time and effort, it would be better spent elsewhere on my build.
Thanks

hahahaha, that's actually a shitton of work. The pivot points have to be ground off and CX500 pivots welded on. The front half of a CX500 driveshaft must be mated to the rear half of a GL500 driveshaft. (2" of wheelbase gained). Then you have to mount the monoshock to something -- I cut off a portion of a GL500 frame and welded it to the CX500 frame, but if I had to do it again I'd just weld on a lower shock mount and leave the frame more or less stock. (I really wanted the rear brake pedal pivot location from the GL500 too, which is why I did the whole thing. Allowed me to use a CX500 Turbo rear brake pedal with reversed GL500 footpegs to get a nice rearset setup that looks stock. Left side uses a Turbo shifter mounted on an adapter (diameters are different) and bent slightly.

FYI, after riding with the steel harley rim for a while, I caved in and re-laced my hub to a Warp-9 17x4.25 rim. There is slightly more tire clearance with this rim (I tested and it does mount to a stock CX500 swingarm with minimal rubbing), and it's a shitton lighter. I also got a proper over-under lace by ordering Buchanan spokes designed for the moto-synthesis rings. Overall very happy with my setup. Current rim here:
