Just installed a new speedo cable from Honda. The parts guy told me it didn't need to be lubed but it is making an intermitent whine. What should I use to lube it in place? I can get some cable lube or is there another product that is just as good?

Lots of lube alternatives. When they are new and off the bike I like to use a synthetic grease on the cables. But if they are on the bike I tend to drip 3 in 1 oil down them or air tool oil.

I use tri-flow for all the cables. It's a synthetic lubricant and is very water resistant. It's what the bicycle guys use on their chains during rainy season here. You can buy it in spray form with the straw, or what I prefer is the drip bottle. I unhook my cables and hang them and put a few drops in them every hour. Seems to work well.
