I have dead speedo and tachometer on my bike and was going to chuck up a drill to the cables to see if it is a bad cable or bad speedo and tach. I didn't want to spin it the wrong way and break something. Anyone know the proper direction I would rotate the shaft? Is it possible to do what I'm intending. I've not torn into it as the bike just came off the transport yesterday.

You won't hurt either one by turning them backwards. But the normal direction is with the drill in reverse. You will probably see about 30 mph show up, depends on the drill. I just grind a square end on a nail and cut the head off. After a couple of tries, you can get a good fit.

A cordless drill about 750 rpms should get you around 13-17mph. My corded drill spins a speedo at 65mph.

Always counter clockwise.
