Welcome to the forum, Larry. Please take a few minutes to edit your signature to show your bike's year and model.

There are a couple of forum members in SE Georgia.

StuckInTheSouth08 is in Hinesville. He was registered on the old forum but is not listed here on the new one. Possibly he has a new user name now.

The next closest member I'm aware of would be kristina and alex in Alma. See the thread titled any one on my rout in this forum section. Alma is not exactly local to you, but not all the way across the state either.

A while back there was a GL650 for sale on Craigslist in your area. Is this your bike?

Larry, thanks for posting and welcome to the forum! I lived in Atlanta for many years and DaveF is just east of Atlanta. I am sure there are probably some folks in your neck of the woods that have been or are on this forum. When you are ready for a trip the motorcycle only resort in Suches, Ga., known as TWO (Two Wheels Only) is a great place to go! I look forward to seeing you at a rally next year.

I'm already itching to make a spring ride up to Nashville via the Natchez trace... then over to the western Blue ridge to practice tight uphill turns with oncoming traffic in MY lane
and then maybe down through South Carolina ( never seen the SC coast) or over to Richmond... through Georgia and MS.

hmmm... naw. I think I'll get to Tenn. Via a trip through Arkansas. Too much time going the 45-50mph limit on the Natchez Trace... not to mention the critters crossings. Plus my Friend in Harris Break could use some ballast in his fishing boat

The "Cross Country " trip is one I've never made on a motorcycle. I really hope to make a long ride in the southeast this coming spring. and would really like to meet y'all. ( plus I've been hungry since GM posted those Pics
)

Maybe I will, and maybe not... but the dream will keep me going regardless... well that and a couple Beignets..

Jeff, since Murfreesboro is the geographic center of the state there are a lot of ways to get here! Matter of fact I will even take you out so you can get your picture taken at the monument! Depending on timing, one of several different rides are available.

The second weekend in June I am planning an HTTA rally in Marlington, WV. I will probably leave during the day on Wednesday of that week to reach Marlington Thursday afternoon. Chances are I will be on the hack and will be doing some super slab to make time. The rally ends Sunday and I will wander home I know not how!

Earlier in the year, probably late April to mid May I will be open to a trip down to TWO in Suches, Ga. That ride would give you a chance to ride some of the best twistys in the country! Usually DaveF can be found hanging around the porch waiting on the call to eat and probably Phil can be counted on to pop over from Low Gap, his trike should be done by that time. When I go down to TWO I usually leave early on a Friday, its an easy ride down, any route we go.

Plug all this info into your personal trip computer and see what comes out. I would be glad to ride with you, heck by the time you reach the Boro you will be a seasoned long distance rider!

Now, Larry, I am afraid you have been the victim of a thread hijack! However, all is not lost. I would like to extend to you the same invite I have just made to Jeff, actually we would expect to meet you at TWO. Jump back in and let us know what you think!

One Saturday in the early fall this year I was riding in the north Georgia mountains and decided to stop in at TWO for lunch. It was a beautiful day with mild temperatures and there were well over a hundred riders there. It was wrapped up with people!

There were a couple of dozen people in line to place their lunch order, but the thought of one of their sirloin burgers was enough to convince me to fall in behind them. After a while I made it to the front of the line and it was my turn to order. Before I said anything, the person taking the order looked up and said

"Will you be camping with us tonight, David?"

I guess I've been there a few times.

True story.

Gene forgot to mention that Murfreesboro is also the thunderstorm center of the southeast...

However, Gene and Mabel are fine hosts!

Now Jerry, I guess you are referring to little things like last years Good Friday F-4 tornado that damaged over 850 homes and totally destroyed, probably over 200 homes and business's. Heck, that was just a little bit worse than our usual thunder-bumper!

Larry, spring is getting closer and I feel I should bring your thread back to life since I thread jacked it before! Have you been out riding yet? Here in middle TN riders have been out & about for a couple of weeks. Even an old fart like myself has been riding for a week! Have you noticed the TWO rally thread? I won't be able to make it but I understand they are going to have a BBQ on the 30th of April with Phil as the star attraction!

Hello, greetings from the foothills of NC! (40 mi NW of Charlotte)

Yes, I'm new here.... glad to see this Southeast forum is alive and well........and looking forward to getting into some real adventures with some other "hard core" enthusiasts....

I've recently acquired some "vintage" Flying V's... a GL650I...really cherry- 12xxx miles, original paint, fully dressed.....and the remnants of someone's "bobber" experiment gone horribly wrong... another '83...CX650 custom, mileage unknown, spray bomb black......

Looking forward to a new, and long term, adventure!!
