Hello I have a 1979 cx500 cafe racer I installed pods and a different mufflers. Those are the only engine mods that I did.
When the engine is cold it does not run right. it bogs when you pull the throttle and it is rough. But after about 5 to 10 minutes of it running it runs fine. What is the problem here do I need to change the jets? Thanks

yes, you need to rejet. also you need to make sure the pods arent covering the atmospheric ports on the carbs.

90 and 120 mains are probably what you need.

Did you remove the H-box or did you just change the nufflers?

Are you using the choke when cold? If so, when do you start to put the choke off.

If it runs perfectly once warm, I'd suggest not changing a thing and just be more patient while it warms up. Start the bike, then gear up, then do a walk around to check tires loose bolts etc,, then take off gradually. 40+ year old bikes with carbs take time to warm up.

Yes I removed the h pipe and I take the choke off after the idle raises Maby after 10 seconds

On my bike I push the choke only partly off. It is still at the point where the fast idle is engaged but chokke is not full on. I ride it that way for a short time. How short depending on ambient temperature.

I took it for another ride without the filters and it seems like it still chokes up when I get on the throttle but at part throttle and idle it runs good. So I think it is the jets. Witch jets would I need to change and to what size? Thanks
