Just received my camshaft and followers back from the cam specialist and they look practically new. Here's what they looked like before!

I had them done at a place called Newman's Cams in South East London. The cost of buying a new camshaft and followers would've been around £650 but the refurbishment came in at well under half that. The followers had new pieces of metal fitted as the origial two part pad is very difficult to remachine. I'm still a way off putting the engine back together...cases need to be vapour cleaned and painted. But I figured I'd let anyone else with camshaft woes know that all is not lost!

Make sure when you fit them you orientate them correctly. They are,"Handed" front to back.Incorrectly installing them will ruin the Cam followers as the angle of the push-rods will be wrong.

Check manuals and pictures to get them right.I've seen gouged Cam followers because of this seemingly insignificant mistake.

Haha! The moment I saw one cam had 18 and the other 19 I check the manual and found the page on handing! Don't want to experience the heartache of killing all the fresh parts xD

There`s a new old stock one on ebay, shame it didn`t come up before you sent yours off for repair?

Yeah, they'd already gone in for repair. I'd waited around two months for anything to come up on forums and eBay. Sod's Law...the moment you put them in...some puts one up for sale! Thanks for checking though!

Yeah, I see what you mean about the impression rings and it also looks like a fan has been attached to the other end...unless that how it was milled. Do you reckon it's a remanufactured cam but being sold as new?
