My '83 GL650I fairing has had all kinds of damage to it over the many years and I'd like to remove it and just replace it with a simple headlight. I'd like it to look kinda nice but am not looking for a fancy custom look. I do know how to actually remove the fairing and associated bracket but am at a loss as to what other parts I'll need. I know I'll need a headlight shell and turn signals and brackets and new mirrors. I know I'll have to do something with the big wiring box too. Are there any CX parts I can use or another bike whose parts I can use? I don't plan on any other changes other than the front end except maybe the handlebars. (I think I've seen some of this discussed here before but darned if I can find it.)

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard, welcome to the forum.

Please put in your name, where you are, and a picure of your bike. This will help with anybody that may

live close to you.

I just did the reverse, I took off my headlight and turn signals to put my fairing on. I could be interested

in a trade for parts off your fairing for the stuff you would need to convert your bike to what you want. The

headlight bracket has a little rust, but I'll send pics probably Sunday when I get back to my house. Let me know.

Thanks for the reply. I updated my profile but don't have any pix yet. Looking forward to the pictures but there's not many parts on the fairing other than the wiring harness, light housing and turn signals. The fairing has been dropped and patched many times but looks good from about 6' away.
