Just purchased a new RM stator rectifier/regulator. The old harness has the centre black which is -12 (I think) and the new rectifier only has the 2 red and 2 green...(and of course 3 yellow).



I'm trying to understand if black was 12vdc return, or if I'm fine hooking the original harness to the new rectifier?

The black wire is used as a voltage sensing line to adjust the regulator output so the voltage is as desired at the load.



If your replacement regulator/rectifier does not have a place for this wire to attach, simply leave the wire unconnected. Everything will still work fine but the voltage at the load may not be quite as precise as it could have been.



Make sure the black wire is protected so that it cannot short out to ground, etc.
