hey all nice to be back as i havnt been around for a while, you might remember my trusty old cx 500 trike from the old site, any way the reg/rec has gone and i have soursed out a second hand one,, great he sais but the old rge is 6 wire one being black,,, the new one i have got my hands on also 6 wire but no black its now brown,, a bike engineer i rang reacons the brown may be earth as it is thicker than the green which is normaly earth.



can anyone shed some light please

its definatly running a 6 wire r/r, the standard 3 yellows the red wire which is v+ on the old r/r the green wire went to earth and i can only presume the black went v-,, but this other one the black is substituted by a brown but as i said the bike engineer reacons this brown is the earth and the r/r came of a bmw donor bike

great il give that a try now as my multi meter is next to me, but somthing that was pointed out to me just now was that the red wire being 12+ is the same gauge wire as the brown, so thinkin on the lines as there should be the same current going thu the + and- wouldnt it make sence that the brown would be - as the green is smaller in gauge size,, prehaps im wrong ????

oh yeah the rr is model number sh532b-12,, i jus put my meter on buzz and went accross the brown and yellow and it gave me .53 and .74 accross the brown and red,, so what is this telling me as im mechanical not electrical???
