Put together a manometer

577 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  CXSarnia
I want to balance my curb, so I built a manometer today, could not do it for 5 bucks. Got the yard stick, hose

nipples to fit the carb's clamp to fit the hose to make sure they are tight on the nipples.

With the one (1) at the top, I filled the loop at the bottom up to the 26 inch mark. So this give me

10 inch plus. I used 30 wt. 2 cycle oil, green.

Put it together, started the engine and the brake side carb wanted to pull all the oil all to that side.

I am sure there is not a leak. Can the carb be that far out of balance? These are my old carb's not the

ones Larry worked on.

Let me know what you think!

It's best to put restrictors (valves) on the tubes. Sometime just the start-up is off balance, and once the engine is at idle, it smooths out a bit, and that 'jump' one side to the other won't be there.
