Hi All, I'm new to the forum. I am building a street tracker using a 1982 GL500 .
I am struggling with fitting pod air filters as the gap between the carbs and the frame is fairly small . I have thought about trying to mould standard pod filters around the frame. Its a posh was of saying I was going to bend them out of shape to fit...!!! Has anyone used shallower filters or is there another workround to fix this problem.?

Many thanks in advance..

yes, mine are stock carbs, cleaned and rejet.
Many thanks for reply. Looking at your bike, your inlet pipes seem different suggesting different carbs. I'll compare over the weekend with your photo. Your bike looks fantastic btw...!!
Thanks again
HI, I have attached some photos of the clearance for the air filters including a view from the rear of the bike.

Looks like you have CX500 carbs and intakes in a GL frame. The CX500 has the carbs widely spaced to cleat the frame center tube and parallel to each other. The GL500 has the carbs close together and parallel. The GL650 has the carbs at an angle to each other.

I'm going to assume that's a Eurosport frame. Same problem as the GL.
You'll need to use CX500E or GL500 carbs that fit between the frame verticals.

I just had a look at the carbs from my 1982 GL500 Interstate. They are VB29B.
