Hey guys,

The name is Geoff, and I'm new to the world of street legal motorcycles, and the world of Honda CXs! I wanted to introduce myself since I'm new to the site and say a couple of things about myself. I'm new to the world of street-legal, but I've spent 16 years on a motorcycle. I'm a twenty year old security officer in Greenville, TX and just this past weekend I bought a 1978 Honda CX500 with 18000 miles on it. It's in good shape, just a new back tire and the little windshield that goes on the front cowl. So if you know anyone with that window for cheap, LET ME KNOW!!!

Cheers you guys, and expect to be seeing me around.

Welcome to the forum.

You should enjoy the CX. They take a little getting used to after a dirt bike but many of the skills you picked up riding dirt will serve you well. The big difference you will notice is you now have to deal with people in cars.

Also , about the windshield,,there never was one on your bike.

They were sold with windshields in some parts of the world but they just figured we in North America probably wouldn't notice if it was missing.

You can maybe get one from overseas, but not cheap.

Thank you guys! I'll get my stuff set up when I get home. I've been browsing the site from my phone. The transition for me so far from dirt bike to street bike hasn't been too difficult, and it's already starting to feel like second nature. The cars are oblivious to cyclists on the road. Also, that's really dissappointing to hear about that windshield. I was really hoping to find one...

The original,"Visors" as they are called make the bikes look better IMHO but they are rare in the US and to be honest they are basically cosmetic.I have a couple in various states.

I prefer one of these,

Very efficient and not too big.

This might be too large for you,

Or very nice,

Shep-

I was looking for the visor strictly for cosmetics. I love the way they look. The guy that I bought the bike from gave me a full sized windshield for it...
