Hey Guys,

First post, Im an active member of the hawkgtforum. Those guys sent me over here to get some info on my 78 cx500.

My name is andy, I'm a life long loyal Honda guy. Most of my background is with hawks and CB's. Im a road racer and race a couple of hawks in CCS and Lrrs, mostly at Loudon and NJMP, hope to hit a few more southern tracks this season. (I was thinking of a vintage CX racer but the weight might be an issue, then again the vintage dudes around here are kinda slow so....
).

My CX is a street bike, had it a few months. So far its an awesome ride, doent stop, doesn't turn all that well either, but its a great all round bike. Did 400 miles this weekend. Its all stock outside of a set of fly aluminum bars. Hoping to make some substatial changes to the bike this winter.

Well theres my intro post. Ill be looking around and asking some questions. nice to meet you guys. Thanks in advance.

Welcome, Andy. These guys here can answer most any CX/GL500 questions. And with your background, you may be able to fill in some gaps too. The carbs are very similar on the CX's and some of the CB's. Welcome to the forum and stay awhile. I would say that posting your location on the profile page is always helpful, and list your bike's model in the signature block too.

Stopping wise the US models only got the single disc which seems a bit of a swizz to me.You can fit some dual discs off other models if you fancy putting the money in.New EBC pads and fresh fluid may well help as well,

Turning could just be worn head bearings. Most people don't bother replacing the ball bearings and instead opt for Tapered roller bearing kits,

Here's the instructions,

A cheap and major improvement is to replace the weak ATF fluid in the forks with heavy grade fork oil,
