Figured its about time I introduced myself. Over the summer I saw a cx500 bobber that caught my attention. After doing some research I decided to try to build my own and go with a BBCR bobber kit. I was striking out locating a decent deluxe to start my build. Most CL adds were gone within 5 days. After a while I decided to try an ad that was 45 days old. The bike was a 4hr drive from NH to VT. After speaking with the owner I decided to hop in the truck. The bike hadn't run in 5 years but appeared to be an honest complete bike with 24k on the odometer . Owner gave me hard bags, trunk and a spare seat with it. Loaded it up and got home at 1am. I really didn't plan on riding it much before tearing it apart but I figure it was better to know what I was starting with. After putting a new battery and gas in the old girl she fired right up. Couldn't believe how fun these little 500's are to tear up the curves with. well she ran great without and tuneup and passed inspection a few days later. I've had a lot of bikes over the years but I got to say these little 500's are a joy to ride. managed to put 1000 miles on her! Well its getting cold here and its time to tear her apart. Plans include BBCR kit, 2 into 2 pipes, dan moto 180 cockpit, murry's carbs.

I managed to drill out the spot welds on badge brackets and got them filled. I'll get it in primer tomorrow. Got word that my BBCR kits and extra parts are about ready to ship! Metal Vehicle door Hardware accessory

had the wheels broken down for powder coat. should be getting my bobber kit this week (I hope) once the mock up is done with the mono shock I'll pull the frame for powder and start on the engine. It ran great but at 25k its probably ready for a dual or triple bypass.. engine will be painted. heads polished. gauges converted over to a dan moto 180. save up for some murry carbs. you know the usual ;-)

Small progress. picked up a little harbor freight welder and got the frame welded up. Thinking of polishing the valve covers and oil filter cover and having them powder coated clear. Anyone have experience with clear powder on valve covers. curious as to how it holds up.

Fatboy I was able to work something out with him. It still took another 4 weeks of emails and missing parts but after 6 months I finally have everything. Hopefully will have some progress pics soon.

So while I've been waiting for parts I decided to take on another project in the meantime. My daughter loved riding on the honda and was pretty miffed when I cut it up. She not a big fan of riding on my Vegas Jackpot (too much of a hot rod). So I started looking for a project that I could ride for a couple seasons and then Cafe if I needed a new project. I ended up scoring an 82 Virago 920 with 5,800 miles for $475 but had to drive 9hrs through a blizzard to get it. she's a funky old girl and I think the gauge cluster belongs in a Delorian but should be an interesting side project. So instead of a dusting we got a foot of snow which gave me some time to putt around in the garage. I needed to find a new home for my plate so I fabricated an extension off of the original hardware and mounted it to the old shock mount
