So I just received my new battery and the Acewell 2853 Speedo/Tach and it says on the manual that I need to plug in some stuff to a CDI but I don't know if the bike already has one or if I have to buy one. I'm pretty sure it doesn't but is it really necessary to have one? Is there any way I could bypass this? I really need to see what speed I'm going and need to see the RPM's since I can't practice without knowing either!

Add in the details of your bike to your signature and someone can answer that for you.
A CDI is the ignition unit of the bike used from 78-81? 82 (Which I have) use TI ignition.
Check out the electronics section in the FAQ

May help if you give some details on what "stuff" they say to plug in. If you can give details on the speedo/tach you got (or post a link to it) someone can see what if anything you will need to add to make the gauge workable
