The bike in your avatar looks like it has been modified. Does it still have the original air box or does it have pod filters? In stock form the carbs are held in place by both the manifolds and the air box.
Yes it has pods, though I’m very confident the intakes manifolds are for the CX. When I push one side in the other side pops right out. I’m pretty new to these bikes but I can still tell they are not on the proper angle to accept the carbs
It sounds like you have the right intakes but are probably the cheap aftermarket ones. There have been many reports of those being just slightly the wrong angle to work. If you had the wrong intakes you wouldn’t come close to fitting the carbs.
1979 Honda CX 500 Custom with 8,500 miles.
Runs great, ready to ride.
Lots of parts rebuilt or replaced since I acquired the bike in 2013.
-Brand new Ignitech CDI box w/ all harnesses, etc still in box.
-Front brakes rebuilt- caliper, master cylinder and new SS braided hose.
If anyone is looking for a daily runner rather than a project (not that there's anything wrong with a project), my '83 GL650 is now on the market. Nothing wrong with it, I just also have a naked GL1100 that fits me better. Listed at $1400, but willing to negotiate (within reason) with serious...
I have an 81 gl500 and just snapped 2 posts on my clutch pressure plate and need to replace it. Don't need the whole assembly, just the plate with the 4 posts. I'm a first time restorer and this has been my first hiccup.
I believe the parts number is 22350-390-000
Thanks to anyone who may be...
Looking for the dreaded emulsion tube/nozzle Honda part #16166-415-003, destroyed in removal.
Does anyone have one?
Are there suitable replacements from a similar carb?
I’ve checked with Sudco and it’s a Honda part only.
Any help or ribbing will be greatly appreciated!
