Hi guys,

in october 2018 I started my first ever build of a caferacer. I chose the CX500 because of the looks of the engine and the accessibility to parts. I plan to realise my caferacer in about 2 years.
when bought, the bike looked like this

and I want to create something like this :

cheers

after a thorough inspection, the major problems started …
i found out that the engine mounts (left and right) at the cilinder were broken…

so i started to look for a new engine … and I found one in Holland.

then I started to fix the engine : triple bypass (renew seals, mechanical seal, check stator, camchain blades,)
. luckily my camchain was still ok.

Great work so far!!
On the last pic, it seems you did not mask the one rocker cover's gasket properly. Personally I would mask the gasket carefully and would not spray the gasket, since it might alter the structure / composite of the gasket, and possibly make it brittal.. But thats just me.

Good luck with the project!

I'm all ears. How about starting with the most obvious wrongs.

No mudguards or fork brace. Possibly insufficient rear wheel clearance for shock travel.

Not a fan of the retro tyres but looks OK otherwise.

I agree, a mudguard at the front is necessary for protection of the radiator. So I will use one , but it will also be my fork brace.

i will have 85mm of shock travel at the rear, which should be sufficient for a CX500 with dual shocks.
