I have done a little more work on my GL650 Interstate windshield setup. This project started almost 2 years ago when I started trying to improve the stock setup. It has been through a number of different configurations over that time. Looking at some newer touring rigs including the Honda NT700V led me to make some modifications. The following pics show the current state of this project. I am very satisfied with the way this works. Buffeting is near zero at any speed. Protection is better than stock. Much cooler in hot weather too. I get a lot of air at the lower height settings. My helmet is completely in the airstream and the helmet vents actually work!

The windshield is adjustable ~ 5" in height and is tilt adjustable via the knob. The setup allows me to easily change tilt and height while riding. The black screen is from a cut down broken stock screen and is mounted in the original slot in the Hondaline fairing. I painted the back side black. It provides a mounting point for the tilt adjustment knob, shade and rain protection for my GPS, and a place to mount my EZPass transponder (white Velcro strips). The knob is a hardware store item and is mounted in a hole I threaded into the plastic. It has a spring to hold adjustment and a thread protector to keep it from scratching the main screen.
The main windscreen is mounted 3/4" out front of the fairing with common parts found at my local TruValue Hdw store. Nylon washers, 6mmx1.0 machine screws and nuts, and some washers and springs. The springs provide a flexible mounting that allows easy tilt and height adjustment without allowing the screen to slip out of adjustment. The slots were made by drilling top and bottom holes and cutting the slot out with a jigsaw. The outside edges of the screen simply slide between the mirror mount and nylon and steel washers held in place with a screw from the back side.
The last pic shows the cool "halo" effect where the edge of the screen lights up at night. The screen is at its lowest height in this pic. As the screen is raised this effect diminishes somewhat. I have been testing this setup on local rides and I am very happy with it. I get to test it some more on my trip to Mayberry RFD next week
