Sorry about Yet Another Oil Thread, but I have actually searched the forum and did not find any answer to this.



My question is, has anyone first hand experience with Mobil 1 5W-50 synthetic oil? Positive or negative?

Just my opinion, but synthetic's biggest strength is being able to go longer between oil changes, and it's cold weather startup.   Neither of those applies to me and the cx, so I stick with cheaper dino oil.  I always use synthetic in my truck though, different beast altogether.

Most synthetics have the friction modifier addded - a definite killer for our clutches. Details should be in some of the other oil threads, especially those that can be found using Google to find posts from the old forum.
