Note to everybody : Randall always puts on the BBQ at his own expense, so bring cash for the tip jar, as he will not ask for anything and we have had to twist his arm to even have a tip jar.

I must send my regrets as circumstances are such that I will not be able to join the ride today. My apologies for the late notice. Ride safe and have a good time.

I couldn't make it today so I finished fitting Murray's quick turn tube and took it for a 100 mile shakedown.

Hope you all have a great ride!

That was without a doubt the hottest Minnesota Spring Ride and Barbecue on record.
No, seriously! The previous high record for today was 92. It peaked at 99 at the big airport today, and hit 100 at Anoka/Blaine airport.

Was nice to see everyone again!

The morning was really nice. The afternoon was brutal!
We went right by the Blaine airport around 4:30.
Many thanks to all who endured the heat to make this a successful Spring Ride (though it felt more like summer than last year's on Aug 1st.)

This is from my phone camera. Muster before the ride.
I think we started with 5 or 6 CX/GLs.
It was an incredible day!

Google captured my ride on my phone GPS. Fafnir (DavidInWisconsin's GL650 last project) got 53mpg. It rode well.

I was riding my BMW as my cxt had a sticky rear brake caliper. The BMW registered 103.4 degrees as the highest outdoor temp on the ride.

R,
Thanks again for a great ride & family hospitality-altho you may have overcompensated for one of those cold rainy days. I did have a couple light leg cramps after i got home but when you are over 80 it is a good thing-pain means you are still alive! I had left home with 6 miles on tripmeter-refueled at 103- reset to 0 & pulled into home in Mendota Hts reading 102-too lazy to go around the block again to make it even 200. Am hoping someone has photos of the black cx650 -he cut off early-nicest one I have seen.

I had massive leg cramps overnight. Needed to stand up and squat in something like riding position to get any relief.

HMMMM, you had them last night and I actually had them on the Ride. Had to pull off twice to walk them out and drink some water.

This morning I am still cramping up on my inner thighs. Old age is a bitch.

Need to find some BANANAS (HA HA). Inside joke for those who were on the ride, LOL

I was late to the BBQ group photo trying to shake off a charlie horse in my shifting leg.
I liked that CX650C too. It looked so small next to the GL.

When I got home, Jean (the wife) served me some sliced banana and rhubarb (it is high in potassium) she cooked up while we were riding.

Leg cramps woke me up at 2 am, could not rub them out, agony, non-stop pain, it was all I could do to crawl to the kitchen and drink water and eat a snack bar, finally got relief after a half hour, and I did not think I was dehydrated, WOW !!!

I had been working on hydrating for a couple days prior, but by late afternoon, it seemed like I was sweating it out faster than I could take it in.

I put pickle juice in my diet tonic and gin nightcap. Also had a couple with no gin, just to hydrate. I only had problems at the end of the BBQ Day of the ride, walked the dog at 6:30am and then at 9:30pm. Today, 7:30AM and 9:30PM. Not so bad for her when the sun goes down. Right now she is laying in front of her fan in placed in front of the air conditioning vent.

Dave, I remember at Wyoming stop Randall came by sweating & repeating his mantra of hydrate-you said it seemed to be getting a little cooler & he said that can be a early warning sign-you seemed fine to me & we kinda laughed-maybe it was warning.
