MN Spring Ride XIV
The 14th annual Twin Cities Spring Ride and Barbecue will be Saturday, June 5, 2021.

** THE MUSTER SITE AND TIME HAVE CHANGED! **
Please update your status to verify that you've seen the changes.

The forecast for Saturday is 96F! Hydrate well on Friday, and carry water on the Ride.

Itinerary:
9:00 Muster at Holiday Stationstore on Vinewood Lane in Plymouth
9:30 - 10:30 Plymouth to Delano (31 miles, 0:55)
208102

10:30 - 11:00 Rest / Fuel
11:00 - 12:00 Delano to Champlin (33.4 miles, 0:56)
208103

12:00 - 1:30 Lunch at Q Fanatic (fuel next door)
1:30 - 2:30 Champlin to Wyoming (43 miles, 1:01)
208104

2:30 - 3:00 Rest / Fuel
3:00 - 4:00 Wyoming to St Anthony (41 miles, 1:03)
208105

4:00 Barbecue

Due to limited dining room space at Q Fanatic, we'll be eating outside. There some shade and a picnic table across the parking lot. I think we'll park at the gas station next door, and some of us can fuel up while others start the lunch line.

We'll finish with the traditional Barbecue at my house.

Feel free to invite your riding friends, and bring your non-riding family to the Barbecue.

This Ride will be held in memory of David Weiner (DavidfromWisconsin).

Thanks!

The 14th annual Twin Cities Spring Ride and Barbecue will be Saturday, June 5, 2021.

(At least until Gov. Killjoy finds out and shuts us down.)

Proposed itinerary:
10:00 Muster at Freedom Gas Station in Plymouth.
10:30 - 11:15 Plymouth to Watertown (29 miles, 0:45)
11:15 - 11:45 Rest / Fuel
11:45 - 12:45 Watertown to Champlin (33.4 miles, 0:53)
12:45 - 1:45 Lunch at Q Fanatic (fuel next door)
1:45 - 2:30 Champlin to Wyoming (33 mile, 0:45)
2:30 - 3:00 Rest / Fuel
3:00 - 4:00 Wyoming to St Anthony (31.8 miles, 0:52)
4:00 Barbecue

This seems like a somewhat short day, even with the generous rest stops, so I might try to add another segment after lunch. Or we just take it easy and enjoy a little more social time at the end.

Feel free to invite your riding friends, and bring your non-riding family to the Babecue.

I'm in, and I'm bringing my sister and a friend of mine. 3 bikes total.

Welcome, Benjo! What part of Minneapolis are you in?

Wait! I recognize the punk in that photo! :D
I already sent Anne a text. Will Jackie be on your pillion?

#12 ·
I expect Anne will want to pilot, rather than pillion again, so I'll probably bring a kid along.

This is the first full season I'll have more than one bike. (I did have the GL650 last year, but almost messed up taking it when I maladjusted the rear brakes.) Which helps me deal with the dilemma: "The weather is good enough for riding or to fix that oil leak. Which do I want to do?" Now that I have other rides, I can take the GL500 apart and fix that leak. It'd be nice to bring it on the ride if I get her fixed by then.

Welcome, Greg! It'll be good to have you along.
I assume you're in Minnesota (or maybe western Wisconsin). Are you here in the Twin Cities?

Going to try to get there but I need to get two rebuilt carbs for my 1979 Honda CX500 I don't work with Blue cat or Roy's for personal reasons so I gotta pull my own wrenches.

Are you in the Twin Cities, Carroll? I can lead you through the carb teardown, if you need, and I have everything for cleaning.

P.S. From the reference to Blue Cat, I guess you're in or around St Paul.

#20 ·
..but I did find a guy on the west coast that does a swap.
If that's Larry Cargill in Sacramento, you're in good hands.
I don't have much experience with the shops in town. Half the fun has been learning to do this stuff myself. Marty at GoMoto on the north side of Minneapolis has a good reputation with the locals here on the forum.

#23 ·
I've made a slight update to the last segment.

#24 ·
I'd like to say I'll be there but i don't know. I'll be on vacation but after last years vacations were canceled just put me down as a maybe.

#25 ·
@Randall-in-Mpls thanks for the text! I replied. I might have to seriously think about coming this year! Our daughter is old enough to leave at home for short times, thus one if the many reasons I haven't had the CX out.

#28 · (Edited)
A few more additions to the roster. We could have a big group this year, if the weather's good. I think folks are eager to get out.

I'm afraid I'll need to drop out. We bought a new camper and are taking it on its maiden voyage to Lanesboro with some old friends. Sorry.

(let me know about any pre-ride though)

Oh, No!
I'll let you know when scouting happens, probably the second or third weekend in May.
