Bought EBC clutch disks for GL650. It mentions something about soaking the discs in oil?

For both cars and motorcycles it is always necessary soak them in motor oil (I personally soak them for 24 hours) prior to installation.

Never soak an automotive clutch in anything, expecially oil! Except for a VERY few oddballs, cars all have dry clutches and pressure plates.

I can tell you what will happen if you soak a car clutch in oil. I was driving my Ford Ranger Diesel home one day and started noticing the clutch was slipping. Really sucked but I nursed it along for about a month. I bought the replacement parts and dropped out the transmission just to find that the moron who rebuilt the engine several years earlier put a stud in upside down at the rear of the valve cover and oil was running down the engine and splashing all over the clutch.



I replaced it anyway and we used something to clean up the clutch and later ran it in another truck just fine. There seemed to be very little wear on it. Maybe because of the oil.

So... Do soak the GL650 plates, or install them dry?

Soak. Just not for a car.
