I am planning out one of my two builds on my CX500. I want to make one into a cafe racer and restore another to stock, but maybe a little nicer. Anyways, for the cafe racer I would like to make my own fiberglass seat just so I can do something unique and new. Anyone have any resources for working with fiberglass? I am pretty up on how the basic process is supposed to work but additional research material wouldn't hurt.

+1 for dotheton forums. They are a great help for cafe related stuff.

Personally though a fiberglass seat may not be the way to go with the dip in the cx frame. I'm using a hacked up seat pan from the original seat with a cut fuel tank from another bike.

I will be modifying my stock pan to use as a cafe/brat seat also. I'm not a fan of the traditional flat bottomed cafe seats on our bikes.

Nice site in your sig Phil. I dig the design!

Use Resin Reasearch. It's epoxy, far less noxious and really easy to work with. I get it from surfboard supply places (how I know about it in the first place). I haven't made a seat pan, but I'm sure it would be the same as any other. It all depends on the thickness of the glass...
