hi guys new to the forum, but been reading for a little while.

my question is. i just bought a 1980 cx500 custom. but the steel loop that comes of the kick stand has been brocken off.

does anyone know the length of this steel from the kick stand? i have stripped the bike down for a rebuild so i cant measure it.

any help much appreciated.

hi matt, and a warm welcome from spain.spend a few minutes to update your avitar and signiture line....include your bikes details, and your location in the world.

to answer your question..mine protrudes horizontally 120 mm.when stand in up position, the steel is 50mm apart where its welded, running down to 20mm,at the toe grab

I think it's about 5 inches. Because it's suppose to wrap under the muffler and have a little notch sticking out.

I bent up a piece of 3/16 rod and welded to my side stand, sort of guessed on the size but just made sure it was long enough to give good clearance and a comfortable feel during use. There ought to be some little nubbins left on yours to show the attachment location.
Welcome to the forum! Add a signature line (just simple text is fine) so we know exactly what year/model/variant you have.

And yes it's true, almost 24x7x365 support here and more collected knowledge than you'd believe.

We all of course sleep or are out riding on occasion so it might take an hour or so to get a response but somebody will get back to your post in short order. Don't forget to check out the "pinned" posts at the top, a ton of good info in there.
