Well, it has been a week since Charles unveiled the new site. It looks like close to 500 people have signed up and made almost 3000 posts. I think that is a amazing testament to these bikes, the members and Charles for allowing us to participate. That also gives us an idea of how many active members we actually have. I would have guessed only a hundred or so, but there is more interest than I had expected.

All in all, I think the site is a huge improvement over the old one. I am still wandering around the forest looking for all the trees, but I'm starting to get a handle on the features. The one thing I really like is being able to review an existing post and start where you haven't read yet. That sure saves a lot of scrolling down the page.

As far as things I would like to see, probably the main one would be a sign-in process that requires a location and bike model that would show up in the posts. Why people are so reluctant to provide this information is beyond me. If you are paranoid about the Federallies or you ex finding you, just type in USA or Antarctica. This information is so helpful when responding to posts as location influences content of many posts. And the bike model is equally important. You can't help to fix something that you can't identify.

Let's hope the site continues to be a valuable resource for those of us who admire these bikes.

Thanks, Charles

Looks very good doesnt it?

I'm still wondering what lots of the stuff does as well

Ditto the point about posters location and model.

Also some background info and recent history would really help

as I've found here and elsewhere that

the quality of advice and suggestions improves in

direct relation to the info provided.

I'm up to 40 odd posts now and 'advanced'

Whoo Hoo !

Its nice to know ah aint retarded no more

I'm pretty satisfied with it. I do agree on mandatory location and bike type. It just makes things easier. One example would be the guy with the 650 looking for a sissybar. Really which 650. Cx650 Custom, Cx650 Turbo, or Gl650. I think it turned out to be cx650 custom but you don't learn that till after the thread is dead.

I like the picture ability and how it zooms down to fit the page but I wish I could make them smaller without resizing.

Some of the other features seem like they have a learning curve and others the exact opposite. I fought with trying to insert a video just to find it was as easy as clicking the insert media button and dropping the link in.

So far things are good except for the fact that I can fly through the website faster on my phone. And my computer is not slow or old.

edit.... I also like the fact that when I click on a link it opens in a different window. Sometimes it's the simple things.

This new place is really the cat's meow........Now, if I could just figure out how to keep the fonts size and colors as a default, instad of always striving to change n keep it after I started typing, would be a big help.

Ditto to all the above comments, in many ways. My first excitement came when SiriusOp hinted that this software was going to be among the choices. I have a great respect for Charles' choice here. I've been on boards that use this, and although the learning curve is there, it's one heck of a great curve.....next to the magic "ess" on Lacamas Lake.

Bravo!

Awesome new site....

As Stitch said though sometimes it does seem slower to get around in than the old site when you click to open up a thread.....but as an OVERALL grade it's MUCH better than the old one, so no complaints.

I kinda` liked the old site.

It was easy on the eye and i knew it. Apart from the flaky server issue there wasn`t much wrong with it.

This one is a bit `busy`, info/links/add-ons and doo-dahs everywhere, and pages are sometimes a tad slow to load...

One big thing missing from this site (unless i haven`t seen it yet) is a `view your posts` button where you can easily view a list of all the threads that you have joined in and see if any replies have been made?

The other thing is that there seems to be an issue with is the photo upload in my profile; i uploaded one of my best portrait shots looking groomed to perfection, sporting bespoke designer gentlemans attire, resplendant at my most handsome ever, and it came out as less than flattering - the pixels must of got scambled in the internets or something..

I really like it - just takes some getting used to. I do miss knowing about all the 'hot wives' that, according to the posts, were apparently quite willing to meet me.

Click on your username in the upper right-hand corner. A menu will drop down. Click on "My Content"

I like it but I'm still fumbling around a little bit. How do you rate a poster's reputation?

Same here. I wondered about the reputation thing too. On another site there was a similar function called 'karma'. It was discontinued after a few months as it became a popularity contest was being used by some to punish others who they didn't agree with. There was also a dogpile mentality and some unfortunates were mauled. This could all be done anonymously and the forum members decided it was underhanded and unhelpful for group unity. From the HELP here..

"Reputation

If enabled, you will see reputation options in the corner below each post. You may see an icon representing the reputation other members have given for that post, along with icons to give reputation. To give the post a positive reputation, click the
icon or to give the post a negative reputation, click the
icon."

This appears different in that the 'reputation' is for the individual post not the poster.

I love the new site. It seems to work well on all of my devices. (Netbook, Desktop and phone.)

I'm still wading through the features as well. Now, if I could get of my A$% and get an avatar.
