I would like to replace my ignition switch, found some on eBay but they list as 78-79 and 81-82 mine is a 80 cx500 will either one of these fit? What's the difference thanks.

78-81 switches should be the same. 82 would be a different beast.

Ok cool deal I just didn't understand why they listed them like that oh well thanks

82 has a "Fourth" position (switch the rear light ON for parking)on the switch, and the plug and harness are specific to the year.

I think the switches all have the park position,,the 1981 and older switches(CDI) ground the ignition system to shut the bike off ,,the 1982 (TAI) switches supply/disconnect power to the ignition system to turn them on and off.
